No cheating

Bible reading: Proverbs 11:1

In a very active school, there was a boy named Mateo . He was ten years old and loved to compete. He always wanted to win, whether it was in games, races, or exams.

One day the teacher announced something important:

—Tomorrow they will have a surprise exam.

The room was filled with murmurs.

Mateo felt nervous.

I hadn't studied enough.

That afternoon, when he got home, he tried to review a little, but he got distracted and didn't make much progress.

The next day, when the exam began, Mateo looked at the sheet.

There were questions I didn't know the answer to.

He felt his heart begin to beat faster.

He glanced sideways.

His partner Luis was sitting next to him… and seemed to know all the answers.

Matthew thought:

“I’m only going to see one…” “It’s just a little help…”

He leaned forward slightly.

He tried to copy an answer.

Nobody was watching.

Nobody said anything.

But something inside him began to bother him.

I knew that wasn't right.

She remembered something her mother used to tell her:

“Cheating may help you win, but it doesn’t make you right in God’s eyes.”

Mateo remained still.

He looked at his sheet.

She looked at Luis's.

And she felt the struggle within her.

I wanted to copy.

But I also knew that was cheating.

He lowered his gaze.

She closed her eyes for a moment.

And in silence he spoke with God.

—Lord… I don’t know the answers and I feel like copying. But I know that’s not right. Help me to do the right thing, even if I make a mistake. In Jesus’ name, amen.

He took a deep breath.

He settled into his seat.

And he decided something.

I wasn't going to copy.

I was going to answer what I did know.

And what I didn't... I'd leave it as is.

When the exam was over, he didn't feel confident about the result.

But in her heart there was something different.

There was peace and quiet.

Days later, the teacher handed in the results.

Mateo didn't get the best grade.

But he didn't do badly either.

However, that wasn't the most important thing.

As she walked back home, she understood something she would never forget:

Doing the right thing is worth more than winning by cheating.

Ask your children what lesson they learned today...

Today's lesson: Doing the right thing is more important than winning by cheating.

  • Have you ever had the opportunity to cheat?

  • What did you feel at that moment?

  • Why do you think cheating can seem easy?

  • What would you do the next time you have that temptation?

In life, we will often have the opportunity to cheat.

It could be during an exam.

In a game.

Or in any situation where we want to win.

Sometimes it seems that cheating is the fastest way to achieve something.

But the Bible teaches us that God loves honesty.

God is not pleased when we deceive.

He is pleased when we do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Doing the right thing doesn't always mean winning.

But it always means pleasing God .

And that's the most important thing.

When we choose the truth, our hearts have peace.

We have nothing to hide.

We don't have to lie.

We live peacefully.

And over time we learn something very valuable:

Integrity is worth more than any outcome.

🎯 Today's challenge:

If you have the opportunity to cheat at something today…

stop.

Remember what is right.

And choose to do it.

Remember this:

God sees what others do not see.

And He rejoices when you choose the truth.

Key verse: Proverbs 11:1

False scales are an abomination to the Lord, but just weights are his delight.

( Weights were objects (such as small stones or metals) used to measure the weight of something on a scale.)

It's time to pray ...
